West Houston Assistance Ministries
100% of every purchase from our resale store benefits WHAM's programs to help the homeless and families who are experiencing crisis. WHAM is a nonprofit that offers food, financial assistance for rent and utilities to prevent eviction and disconnection, and education and employment to promote self-sufficiency in those who are struggling. Seeing 250-450 households (pre-pandemic) and 500-630 households weekly during the pandemic, we help individuals experiencing emergency circumstances beyond their control such as furloughs, layoffs, illness, disability, and unexpected expenses that affect their ability to obtain sufficient income or employment to meet their needs. We have served over 150,000 since the pandemic started, over three times the number helped in an ordinary year! We serve these families with the goals of alleviating poverty, building a thriving community, and giving hope to the hopeless.
